The greater Washington, DC/Baltimore/Northern Virginia metropolitan region is home to legions of nonprofit community groups providing direct services to area residents. Many of these groups have few or no resources for purchasing art, specifically original works of art.

Local nonprofit agencies that meet the Art Connection's guidelines can apply to receive art donations. Once the application is complete and processed, the nonprofit applicant becomes actively involved in choosing artwork that it will own and permanently display.

Staff and volunteers at the Art Connection work with each agency to provide practical advice and to ensure that the works selected are appropriate for the location, facility and constituents. The Art Connection team helps the agency understand and care for the chosen works. All donated works of art become the permanent property of the recipient nonprofit organization.
